GETTING READY FOR ANOTHER BUSY SEASON ON THE WATER!

Our team has started to prepare for another busy season of field work and youth programming. This year, we brushed up on our safety skills, with some of the WCS Canada staff and Moose Cree First Nation staff taking swiftwater rescue training. It was initially a bit nerve-wracking to leap into the rapids, especially at the end of April when the ice is barely off the rivers! But once we got into the swing of things, it was a lot of fun to practice our throw bag rescues, shallow water crossings, and pulley systems. It was a good start to the season, and we’re looking forward to starting the field work next week — our first adventure will be to download our underwater receivers tracking tagged lake sturgeon. Stay tuned for more updates in the next few weeks!
