CHARGING UP FOR FIELD SEASON

It’s almost time for field season, and that means that we’re in the final stages of preparing and packing equipment!

When we’re out on the river, we don’t have electricity, and so one of the tasks is to make sure that all equipment is working, charged, and ready to go. Some of the main electronics that we need to charge are things like PIT tag readers, which let us scan fish for tags, and find out if we’ve caught this fish before. We need to charge the batteries for fish finders that we use to help us find our receivers that are currently in the river collecting data from the tagged fish, and we need to charge computers that we use to download the receivers, once we’ve found them and pulled them up to the surface.

It’s a lot of work to get ready to go — hopefully we’re not forgetting anything!
